The Story Behind This Candle

The Battle of Yorktown marked the final major engagement of the American Revolutionary War and the moment when independence became inevitable. In the autumn of 1781, American and French forces under General George Washington, with crucial support from the French navy, surrounded British General Charles Cornwallis along the Virginia coast. Cut off by land and sea, British forces found escape impossible.

Weeks of sustained bombardment weakened British defenses and morale. On October 19, 1781, Cornwallis surrendered his army, effectively ending Britain’s ability to continue the war in North America. Though the Treaty of Paris would not be signed until 1783, Yorktown sealed the outcome and confirmed the colonies’ path toward nationhood.

The Tobacco and Oak scent reflects the atmosphere of the era—wooden fortifications, smoke-filled encampments, and the agricultural landscape of colonial Virginia. Notes of cured tobacco and oak create a warm, grounded fragrance that evokes endurance, resolve, and the moment when the struggle for independence finally gave way to victory.
